Royal Alaskan Movers’ sister company Dewitt Moving & Guam places 3rd in the Annual Plane Pull in Guam
In an effort to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, Continental / United Airlines hosted their Annual Plane Pull event on Saturday, April 9, 2011. 41 teams from various businesses and organizations on Guam accepted Continental / United Airlines’ challenge to vie for the Championship Title .
Teams mustered their collective energy to tug a Continental Airlines 737 aircraft, 12 feet, with a total weight of 145,000 lbs , in the shortest amount of time to win the title.
Sister company Dewitt Moving & Storage Guam was one of the 41 teams that participated in this much anticipated event. All 41 teams had to pull the plane a distance of 12 feet using the rope attached to a tow bar connected to the front wheels of the aircraft. The team that pulled the aircraft in the shortest amount of time would be the “2011 Continental Airlines Plane Pull Champion”.
Each team is comprised of 20 men (men’s division) or 14 men & 6 women (co-ed division). Team Dewitt took 3rd place out of the 41 participants in the men’s division with a total pull time of 4.80 seconds—this was their best pull time ever!
A BIG thank you to all the organizations and sponsors in the island community, that helped to make this year’s event a huge success.
In the end, Continental/United raised over $24,000.00, with 100% percent of the proceeds donated to the local Guam chapter of the American Cancer Society.
